WHAT WE BELIEVE

The Statement of Faith

Gamma Phi Delta Christian Fraternity, Inc. accepts those areas of doctrinal teaching on which, historically, there has been general agreement among all Christians. Because of the specialized calling of our organization, we desire to allow for freedom of conviction on other doctrinal matters, provided that any interpretation is based upon the Bible alone, and that no such interpretation shall become an issue which hinders the ministry of brotherhood to which God has called us.

  • WE BELIEVE the Bible is the living, inerrant, inspired and only infallible Word of God, written by holy men, chosen by God. The ENTIRE Bible, from Genesis to Malachi and from Matthew to Revelation, contains all things necessary for our salvation. All scripture is profitable for doctrine, reproof, correction and instructions for righteousness.

  • WE BELIEVE in the One, True and Living God who is infinite in all things (Mark 12:27, Luke 20: 38, John 17:3, 1 Timothy 4:10, Isaiah 45:22). He is Omnipresent, Omniscient, Omnipotent and manifests Himself in three persons (1 John 5:7, 1 Timothy 1:17, 1 Corinthians 8:5-6). They are equal in deity (John 1:1, Colossians 1: 15, John 17: 18 -23, Hebrews 1:3, John 14:16).

  • WE BELIEVE that God is the Creator of heaven and earth (Genesis 1:1, John 1:3). He is The Supreme Being who has always existed and always will exist (Revelations 1:8). He created man in His image and His likeness (Genesis 1:26). WE BELIEVE fellowship with mankind was broken when Adam, the first human created by God, sinned against God (Genesis 3). Thus, mankind is born with a sin nature and separated from God (Romans 3:23). God loves mankind so much that He made a way for us to reestablish fellowship with Him…through His Son, Jesus Christ.

  • WE BELIEVE that Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of God (John 3:16, Colossians 2:13-20, Hebrews 1:5). He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He was crucified. Jesus died and was buried. On the third day, He arose from the dead…. He is now seated at right hand of God, the Father Almighty, making intercession for us (Colossians 3:1, Act 2:33). He is the Savior of the world. WE BELIEVE that Jesus gave His life for the Church. He arose to give resurrected life to the Church, and He ascended to Heaven to be the Head of the Church (Colossians 1:18).

  • WE BELIEVE the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of the Living God. He was sent to us when Jesus ascended to be with the Father. The Holy Spirit indwells every believer at the point of salvation …sealing us into the Body of Christ (Ephesians 1:13-14, Romans 8:11). He baptizes after salvation (Acts 8:14-17, 19:1-7), comforts and teaches (John 14:16-26, 1 Corinthians 2:9-13), helps us to pray (with or without the ability to speak in an unknown tongue. Romans 8:26-28) and allows us to be witnesses of God (Acts 1:8).

  • WE BELIEVE that Jesus Christ is the ONLY way to God (John 14:16). There is no other name by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12).

  • WE BELIEVE that salvation only comes through confession with the mouth that Jesus is Lord and belief in the heart that God raised Jesus Christ from the dead.

  • WE BELIEVE that water baptism and communion are outer expressions of an inner conviction and commitment to Jesus Christ.

  • WE BELIEVE that works cannot bring about salvation, but rather are works spring forth as evidence of true faith in God through Jesus Christ (Titus 3:4-5, Ephesians 2:8-9).

  • WE BELIEVE that sanctification is subsequent to the new birth in Jesus Christ by faith in the His blood, through the Word of God and by the Holy Ghost (Hebrews 13:2, 1 Corinthians 6:11, John 17:17, Ephesians 5:26).

  • WE BELIEVE that holiness is God’s standard for living for all people (Hebrews 12:14 Romans 6:22, 1 Thessalonians 4:7).

  • WE BELIEVE there will be a resurrection of the dead to either eternal life with Jesus believers or eternal damnation in hell for the unbelievers (Revelation 21:7- 8, Thessalonians 4: 16-17, Matthew 13:30, 40-43.)
